Hints and Tips to enhance your home!
Enjoy these great tips to enhance your home. Remember to focus on the good things about it.
1. Keep it tidy… If you are in a rush or short of energy then focus on tidying and follow up with cleaning later.
2. Keep your windows clean. Use the services of a window cleaner (if practical) to ensure that they get done regularly, and you do the insides regularly too.
3. Your kitchen is the most important part of you home, so start making improvements here. Always start with tidying the kitchen (before other rooms)
4. Keep worktops clear. Only keep out the essential items like kettle and toaster. Aim to find a space for everything and then put things away after use.
5. Ensure that all electrical items in your kitchen actually work. If they do not either get them fixed, replace them, or just throw them out, if not essential.
6. Put a small light on the worktop in the kitchen to give soft ambient light in the evening. Use strong fluorescent or halogen light when preparing food and then soft light when just getting a drink at night.
7. Work systematically when tidying or sorting out any room. Begin by the door and work clockwise around the room. This will focus your energy, and other things that also need doing will not distract you. One totally tidied or sorted area will feel even better when you add the next tidied area. You will be able to see what you have done and feel proud of your efforts (and be encouraged to do more!!)
8. Focus on one room at a time. Never aim to do the whole house as that can be too daunting. Your 1st Priority is the kitchen, followed by the Bathroom and toilets, followed by your bedroom, then finishing off with the rest of the living areas and other rooms
9. Keep your front door and hall way as clear as possible and put extra coats, shoes, shopping bags etc away (in hall cupboard or spare room, if you have one). The energy of your home is affected by how well it can move around from your front door… and how well you can get about too!
10. Keep a small light on in the hall on dark days and in the evenings when it gets dark. You could use a time switch so that the light always comes on to welcome you home.
11. Keep your front door clean and welcoming. Think about introducing a couple of planters with seasonal flowers either side of the front door. The effect of these can be uplifting when you and your quests arrive at your house.
12. Select your favourite ornaments so that you can see them from where you sit in the living room or lounge. Your energy will be higher if you are looking at “nice” things.
13. Only keep ornaments that you actually like.
14. Move out all old newspapers and magazines as rapidly as possible.
15. Keep photographs out of people you get one with. Put away any photos of people you do not wish to be reminded of. Have a good sort out of you photos and only keep the best ones.. most people have hundreds stashed away.!
16. Keep toilet areas clean and tidy. Never put special keepsakes, photos or certificates etc in the toilet or bathroom area.
17. Empty bins regularly and never have a bin in the bedroom (use the one in the bathroom).
18. Clear out all old personal care bottles and only keep the best and most used. Most people have lots of half used bottles and items of makeup. Clear them out. Check shampoos, shower gel, moisturiser etc and avoid any containing sodium laurel Sulphate SLS, sodium laureth sulphate(SLES) and propylene glycol as these may not be helpful to your health and skin,( contact me if you would like to know where you can get alternatives)
19. Avoid mirrors opposite the front door.
20. Always make your bed when you get up in the morning (to separate active time from sleeping time). It helps you to be more energised and fresh at the beginning of the day and easier to switch off and relax at the end of the day.
21. Avoid photographs of children in the bedroom. You need to be just yourself in your bedroom, and not a parent or grandparent. Put photos on the landing, hallway or in living rooms.
22. Ensure that you can NEVER see yourself in any mirror from your bed (either sitting up or lying down). That also included a “black mirror” ……..the television! Either remove it from the bedroom or cover it with a cloth. This also applies to computer screens in bedrooms.
23. Never sleep facing the doorway ie in direct line of the door.
24. Vaccum under the bed regularly.
25. Have the best quality mattress you can buy. Look for one with long guarantee to indicate its “life” . Magnetic mattresses are worth investigating. Get advice from someone who really knows or contact me for more information.
26. If you want to be part of a couple ensure you have items in pairs around the house, ie two picture, two ornaments, two candles etc.
27. Never take workbooks, papers or discussions to bed. Read, plan or talk work related issues in the living areas.
